LTD-02: SQUANTO - GO GO GADGET GRASS STAINS
The first Squanto album, recorded from Summer 2008 to Spring 2009, and released May 2009, except for “The Fountain of Truth” which was recorded in late 2007. The bulk of the recording took place in the upstairs hallway of my parents’ house, on weekday afternoons after I got home from school and before they got home from work. The drums on “Gumballs” were recorded in one of the practice rooms in my high school because I didn’t (and still don’t) own a drumset.
Songs and other sloppy accidents about cleaning tables, throwing candy, sitting on benches, holding hands, hiking across deserts, you know, those kinds of things. The sound of a bored teenager trying really hard to remember things.
Released in an edition of 50 numbered, unique, handmade CD-Rs, housed in 4-panel cases from Stumptown Printers. Each case has “SQUANTO” spelled out on the front and “GO GO GADGET GRASS STAINS” spelled out on the back with letter stamps, plus something else on the front. Some of them have cutouts from old coloring books (like above), some have watercolor drippings, some were decorated by friends. Each one is totally unique. Tracklisting is stamped on the inside of the case, and music is served on an all-white CD-R with “SQUANTO” stamped on it. Each copy is numbered in pen on the inner fold. Pictures of the packaging are on the bandcamp page.
